Senior Marketing Manager – Toronto, Canada | Permanent

In this role you will be responsible for strategizing, planning, organizing, performing, directing, controlling and evaluating all marketing & external sales functions, including advertising, promotion, media, print production (including eCommerce), public relations and sales/business development in order to realize business objectives and revenue targets. 

You will work with internal and external clients to establish strategic marketing/sales plans; direct their execution; initiate the development and monitor the achievement of marketing/sales budgets and year-long promotional schedules; evaluate/ analyze the effectiveness of marketing/sales initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategize, identify, develop, implement, and communicate marketing/sales opportunities and developing marketing initiatives 
  • Focus on maintaining, developing and growing the mindshare/market share positions of the business   
  • Be proactive in determining operational needs; recognize, recommend and implement new initiatives that meet the fiscal and organizational objectives
  • Exercise an entrepreneurial commitment to all tasks and imbue a similar spirit in all direct reports
  • Prepare board materials and attend board meetings
  • Prepare marketing and sales plans with recommended solutions to enhance business growth
  • Prepare an annual budget and be accountable for meeting the business goals as set out by the company
  • Liaise with managers to ensure budget targets are met bringing any challenges in achieving or bettering those targets to the attention of the appropriate executive
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to staff in accordance with the company’s policy and procedures
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, address departmental staff concerns and issues, recommending problem resolution and/or dismissal and participate in same
  • Oversee the marketing and business development team to ensure they operate at optimum service and efficiency, producing a consistently high-quality output
  • Research creative development and copy writing for promotional pieces, advertising, and website
  • Ensure that production of marketing and promotional materials is carried out professionally, accurately, promptly, within budget and on a priority basis
  • Oversee that relevant businesses’ databases are developed and maintained, including customer, media and supplier databases and ensuring that database information provided for promotional mailings is current and accurate.  Mine data to identify trends and promote customer relationships
  • Ensure that company websites are edited and updated promptly as required
  • Ensure that corporate group and incentive sales are pursued, through identifying opportunities and coordinating contact action
  • Chair regular marketing meetings with each business to discuss program performance, forward plan, new marketing/promotion ideas and/or events
  • Along with the sales or marketing team, provide on site or remote representation as necessary for all or one of the businesses in the event of an offsite promotional opportunity. May include trade shows, presentations to call centre and sales staff, television, radio, association or trade events
  • Oversee relationship management of media, industry and community partners

Requirements:

  • 5+ years marketing management experience, preferably in a hospitality or service industry
  • University or College degree in marketing or sales
  • Exceptional communication both verbal and written
  • Advanced computer skills including desktop publishing, database management and MS Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain client relationships and to recognize and act on business opportunities
